Education Support Programme Application Form

Purpose:

To provide scholarships to Guyanese women and girls who are in need of financial assistance, and wish to actively support their communities through pursuing studies at the University of Guyana/Guyana Technical Institute/Guyana Industrial Training Centre.

  • Deadline for scholarship applications is June 7, 2025 (No exceptions).
  • Refer to the criteria below for eligibility requirements.
  • Refer to the application process below for a list of the supporting documents needed (i.e., references, evidence of GPA, etc.) Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • If a question does not apply to you, please put N/A in the space provided.
  • You will be notified by mail regarding the status of your application.
  • The SBM Offshore Guyana policy is to renew scholarships to students that have maintained a GPA average above 3.2, continue to demonstrate positive attributes exhibited on the previous scholarship application(s), and reapply each year meeting all criteria.

Criteria:

All applicants must be Guyanese women either as:

  • A new entrant with an admittance letter from the University of Guyana/Guyana Technical Institute/Guyana Industrial Training Centre or,
  • Second-year continuing student with a GPA of at least 3.2, majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of how your studies will enhance your career growth and contribution in Guyana.
  • Consideration will be given to candidates who are involved in at least one community development initiative.

Application Process:

Applicant must submit the following items:

  1. Completed application form
  2. Two (2) letters of recommendation from the Toshao and any other; high school teachers, administrators, employers, or individuals with significant knowledge of your experience and involvement.
  3. An official and recent university transcript with cumulative grade point average.
  4. Personal essay: In your essay, please describe yourself and how you have worked in your life to make a positive difference in your community.

CHECKLIST:

Completed application should include the following, all of which must be received by the deadline:

  • Application Form completed and signed by applicant
  • At least two letters of recommendations (from non-relatives). May include Teacher, Pastor etc., who can attest to the applicant’s character and/or abilities.
  • For continuing students, an official copy of the applicant’s current University of Guyana/ GTI/ or GITC transcript.
  • For new entrant, copy of acceptance letter to the University of Guyana/ GITC/ or GTI.
  • A personal statement of 500 words, expressing why you are a suitable candidate for the programme.
    Application forms must be filled out completely with all necessary information by the applicant.Application will be treated with the highest degree of confidentiality.
